What Happens If I Die Without A Will?

When an person has no plan for distributing assets at death, he or she is deemed to have died intestate. When an person dies intestate, the court appoints an administrator to administer the assets and state law determines how the assets are distributed. What this means is that the state in which the person is domiciled at the time of death will ultimately decide who will get your assets and in what proportion, whether or not it is consistent with what you would have wanted.
